Artist’s Statement
Hi, I’m Sarah, the lead creator of Gardening. The inspiration behind this virtual reality experience came from the six years I was a music teacher. I’ve felt so much joy in my life from music, and Gardening is my way of sharing that joy of creating something that is uniquely your own.
The most impactful lesson I learned as a music teacher is that everyone is musical. Rather than try to measure a student’s potential or ability, I realized it was my responsibility as a teacher to bring out my student’s inherent musicality. While not everyone sees themselves as being able to create music, Gardening allows people to explore that side of themselves.
I really hope you can find a sense of wonder and curiosity through Gardening.
